Stephen W. Bucher was born and raised in San Jose, California. Mr. Bucher received his bachelor’s degree, with honors, from Santa Clara University. He earned his law degree from Willamette University, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Willamette Journal of International Law and Dispute Resolution. Mr. Bucher also is an alumnus of Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose.
Mr. Bucher is a licensed attorney in California and New York. He is a member of the Trusts and Estates sections of the State Bar of California, Silicon Valley Bar Association, and Santa Clara County Bar Association, and is a frequent speaker on estate and business planning topics.

Mr. Bucher began his legal career in the Financial Fraud Unit of the Oregon Department of Justice prosecuting consumer fraud, antitrust violations, and government contract disputes. In 1994-95, Mr. Bucher was a Foreign Lecturer at the Law Faculty of the University of West Bohemia in the Czech Republic.
Prior to opening his current law firm, Mr. Bucher was a senior associate attorney at the Palo Alto, California headquarters of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. Mr. Bucher's practice at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati focused on business litigation cases, primarily representing officers and directors in internal corporate matters and shareholder disputes.
Mr. Bucher subsequently established his own boutique firm exclusively devoted to estate and business planning. Mr. Bucher believes that small boutique law firms can and do provide the same or better quality legal services to most clients in most instances. Being a small firm means that we 1) focus on the areas of law important to our clients, 2) do not need to pass on high overhead costs to clients in the form of high hourly rates, and 3) respond to all client inquiries promptly.
